My latest purchase: Gunze Sangyo Ferrari 250 GTO!
Forget the ugly Enzo this is perhaps the most beautiful car ever made and this kit is pretty special too, apparently out of production since 1986. Cost me $51 plus shipping from Ebay.
As you can see the kit comes with many metal and photo-etched parts, I'm really looking forward to this but I don't think i'm good enough yet so I'll probably do a 350Z first to have one more run through priming and painting before this mammoth task. I'm going to do it either ed or yellow, a colour which they did make the original car in although some people believe it was never made pure yellow, I know a yellow one raced at Spa in 65 and I think Silverstone 62. My dad thinks it will look like a toy in yellow though, what do you guys think? ![]() *Mops up saliva* |

I wanted and still want that kit soo so bad, but hey what don't I want right. Well, personally I would like to see you paint it red or yellow too because that is in true Ferrari fashion.

Worth every penny, IMO. What color are you planning to paint it?

Here's mine that I finished in May this year (sorry the pic's not the best. Haven't got any good ones with my new camera yet.)
![]() Looks like you've got the hi-tech version of the kit. Mine was just the lo-tech version: all plastic (no metal), and curbside. I would like to get ahold of the high-tech version and build it someday too. One word of caution: I found that the plastic used for the body was very brittle and actually crazed very easily when I applied spray-can primer to it. I tried two different kinds (Duplicolor and Plasticote) and both had to be rescued with alot of patience and sandpaper. I ended up using Gunze Mr. Surfacer through my airbrush in the end and it worked very well. Whatever you plan to use, shoot a test section on the inside of the body before coating the outside!! BTW, I have a few links with pictures I could send you that might be helpful. Send me a pm if you'd like me to put a list together Also, the pic below was the only one I could find of this car with yellow paint on it. If you find a good pic of a yellow version, please post it or let cc: me a copy!! Murray ![]() |

Scratch what I said above about a yellow version. I found this in my own collection of reference pics...

Excellent!
Great car, kit and Deal. Everytime I find one of these on E-bay the bidding gets out of hand quickly. ![]()

that looks like an amazing kit there, of one of my all time favourite cars; i wish the model shops round here did some decent kits (ok i realise this kit is OOP, but the only decent classis kit i have found is the fujimi GT40 mkII). Ill never forget the day i saw one of these in the real, i was out cycling on holiday in wiltshire (south of england). I was freewheeling down this country lane, and i heard this real loud, metallic exhaust note that you only get from a highly tuned, classic engine. Upon turning round to see what it was, the bright red of a 250GTO greeted me, with the number plate "250 GTO". That was definatley the best car i have seen on the open road. I have since seen the same car on TV at the goodwood festival of speed, and i think it belongs to the bloke out of the rock band Pink Floyd (or was it Fleetwood Mac? cant remember)
Any way, good luck with the kit, keep us posted with lots of pics ![]()

That said, http://italianhorses.net is an AWESOME site that was part of my reference for my build. The articles and photos are first-rate and quite thorough. Very highly recommended that people check it out... Murray |

the 1962 Silverstone car wasn't yellow, it was green (look up chassis# 3505GT).. if you look click on the second link (both are chassis list) it'll have the colour the car was delivered in right under the chassis number

I built the hi-tech version about 10 years ago. It won several modelcar contests, and I'll post some pictures tonight (I'm not home right now). It's one of the best kits I ever built, although not very easy!!! BTW "yellow" was the color of the Belgian "Ecurie Francorchamps", in the 50ies and 60ies, when cars still drove for their country... And as for the value of a 250 GTO : a few years ago I spoke with mr Wang (of Wang computers) at the Ferrari Days at Spa Francorchamps, and he payed 20.000.000 $ for his dark blue GTO, although he admitted that they lost some of their value lately... |
