my other money pit, (why i dont spend more on my car, why im even more broke, etc)

anyways, after my trip to downieville, my mtn bike was lookin and riding pretty sad, rear pivot was creakin, wasnt shifting right, skiping on the second chainring, etc ... all good.

So i got all this new shit to put on it

went to the bike shop near my school to get an xt rear deraileur ... parking meter still had time in it ... sweet

and finally after almost 2 weeks my bike is done!

Basically i had the following done
new raceface crank
new raceface bottom bracket (non splined)
new chain
new rear casette
new rear pivot
new rear deraileur
all new cables
avid brake things (mechanic put these on, dunno what the advantage is)
rear wheel trued
front fork lubed
rear fork adjusted and tuned
various parts were bent or fucked up in some way, he fixed all that ...

anyways on with the rest of the pics

I didnt even think i would get the bike back today, so i didnt even have my roof rack on my car ... so i hadda put it in the back seat ... cant just put it in the trunk cause i got subs back there.

hadda unclip the pass seatbelt and scoot the pass seat forward

its in there!

and the rest of my shits all in the front seat!

got the bike out ... lookin goooooood

crank

xt deralieur and rear casette

pivot

weird ass avid brake things i was talking about ... front

rear

bottom bracket is a bit too wide ... but its coo

this is where water was collecting and fcked up my other bottom bracket

all my old shieet

crank and chain

rear casette

really messed up bottom bracket

old pivot

old stx rc rear deraileur

found this amusing ... got a golden chain link

well im gonna have fun riding the new setup! peace.

crank, pivot, rear casette, and bottom bracket were gifts that i hadnt put on till now.

I paid $40 for the deraileur, then another $60 for all the other shit he replaced (cables, chain, other stuff i cant remember) and $40 in labor ... so this little trip cost me about $140 total ... he did a great job ... I was out riding it tonight and i would be in the second chainring up front and be all timid cause the old one would skip ... the smoothness of all this new shit is amazing ... i gotta get used it it

just cruisin around the streets of napa is not much though ... tommorow imma check the bolt on the bottom bracket, cause the mechanic told me to keep on top of that shit for the first month after every ride, and friday im most likely gonna go do some downhill riding at northstar ski resort.

after northstar ill have to check EVERYTHING, clean and lube the bike again ... main thing i gotta remember when i clean it is to have it upside down so water and mud doesnt get into my new bottom bracket.

And yes the bikes more hooked up than my car cars gettin there though.

You need to get some egg-beater pedals and some disc brakes on that badboy.

wtf are egg beater pedals? You mean flats? I throw those on when i go to downieville or northstar, but run clips the rest of the time.

and while i have aspirations to get disk brakes they are a lot of money and generally only offer additional braking benefit in wet conditions.
