why dont more people make there TC faster?
i just got my hands on a rear diff from a cop car
, going to install it in the near future, hope the new gears will add a little bit of speed from the stand still. any one else got some cheap ways to make your towncar faster?its funny to see a "boat" smoke a civic like nothing . im going for the "rat rod" look, plan on spraying my car flat black, cutting the exhaust off and making some sort of pvc pipe intake, lol

Re: why dont more people make there TC faster?
As I've said before, I'm keeping my car as stock as I can (I am going to remove the cats and put strait pipe in their place).
Go faster? When I backed out of it at 100 mph I was still climbing. When passing a hot rod, loud Honda the other day on a two lane road, when I got up beside him he punched it. I went into passing gear and made him look like a turtle. If there is any sand at all at a stop sign I can get scratch. If there is any moisture at all I can get scratch. Clean, dry pavement I can push my wife and I back into the seat. My 4 cyl. Honda Accord gets 24 - 26 mpg. My V6 Toyota PU gets 20 - 22 mpg. My LTC gets 25 - 28 mpg. Changing out the diff. will cause the car to burn more gas. Changing out the diff. will increase tire wear. Changing out the diff. will increase transmission wear. Changing out the diff. will increase engine wear. Some people have money to burn - I don"t. Yep, I'll keep mine stock, thank you.

Re: why dont more people make there TC faster?
For me personally, these cars were built perfect the first time around. Changing it would be undoing perfection.
Lincoln Town Cars are pretty fast, without any help. No need for more speed. Everything around us is fast enough.

Re: why dont more people make there TC faster?
Most people use them for comfort and others low ride them. Not too many people feel the need for speed.
Before you get too excited about the diff, you need to pull the covers and count the teeth if you can't find any tags to identify what you have. I would hate to think you installed the same ratio you took out. |

Re: why dont more people make there TC faster?
I want go go faster,I will take my JAG.
If I want comfort,we will take the TC. If we want to go Green & Save gas,we will drive DELSO. It seems like we are driving my Honda alot lately. |

Re: why dont more people make there TC faster?
If you want fuel economy forget four wheels, two wheeled Iron Horse is the way to go. MY TC is fast enough, she will burn the tire right off the rims bone stock.
