Diorama-rama
I'm in the process of building a diorama as my standard picture taking location for my models. Going to fashion it similar to the pit lane of the Japanese tracks you see in the Options videos. I'm still in the drawing phase, but I'm gathering up items for it (tools, reference photos, etc).
One thing I would like to have is a Japanese race queen figure to pose against the car. I've seen Fujimi's kit of Drivers/Race Queen. Has anyone used this kit? I'm not too keen on painting people since I don't have the colors for it. What about action figures? Basically, I just need a scantily clad, asian female action figure that stands about 2.5 inches tall (5' tall in 1/24). I'm not up in the toy market, so if anyone knows of any figure line, please let me know. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I have that fujimi kit u r talking about, but havn't started on it yet.
As for painting, just get tamiya "flesh" color and painting the clothes (or swim suits) in flat red, blue, yellow one must have when doing the interiors. By advised that the figures need a little work to look realistic =) good luck |

Re: Diorama-rama
Gunze Sangyo has done a Vw Bug with two figures in his Sonoda Kenechi collection. The figures are 2 cute girls in swimsuit.
Gunze VW Bug with 2 figures Painting figures is not so easy than cars. I've done figures for years before coming back into car modeling and it's a completely other technic of painting. There are 2 ways of figures painting: - The oldschool , oil paints ( Winsor and Newton, Rembrandt ). Matt Humbrol base, colored oil base and then shading into the hollow and on the relief. - Acrylic paints ( Valejo, Citadel ) frequently used for wargames. Dark mat base and lots of drybrushing to highlight the relief. It's hard to explain with words. The best would be to meet figures painters around your town and see how they work. You can also paint everything with Humbrol but it would look crappy. Don't forget, you can have a perfect car but if the figure is ugly it spoils everything. Xav |

Thanks for the link. Something to start with. I've painted Warhammer 40k and D&D miniatures in the past, so I know it's two different worlds of painting. I haven't painted those in years, so it'll take some work to get the technique back. Which is why I'm hoping to find suitable action figures or other pre-painted alternatives. My search would be easier if I could read Japanese. Sigh. |

Hasegawa has a race queen set. I think it was just rereleased as I have seen them in Hobby Stores. The figures are much better than the Fujimi kit and include umbrellas.
Good luck with the diorama and show pictures. |

Great info guys. Also found that Modelers has 1/24 scale set of 2 Girls. Unfortunately, their race queen is in 1/20 scale.
I'll post some pics once I get out of drawing stage. |
