Front windows or rear window?

Mine works, but it just takes so long for the engine to heat up, and on the back window, my defroster doesn't work because when they removed my old tint, it took some of the copper traces with it.

I always use my a/c when defrosting my windows. I know...doesn't sound right, but it really works - and much faster than just waiting for the car to warm up.

Im just wondering why it takes sooo long to warm up, because my old dakota would warm up in less than half the time it takes my cav to warm up...

Re: Problems Defrostin Windows

my honda has always had the foggin' up problem. i would always yell at everyone to stop breathing! seriously though, i guess hondas are known for that. my bf is an auto tech and at the different places he's worked at....it's a common complaint from honda owners. I knew a guy who brought back 2 Accords to the dealer because of it and then he had to end up just living with it. Those were newer models too. i think it has something to do with the seals.
oh and ci5ic, my back window got shot out (with a bb gun, not a real one) and my replacement one had most of the copper missing. I went to pepboys and got a little kit and fixed it right up. took awhile but it works great now!

The only time I've had problems was when the compressor for the AC unit was fudged up. Once I got that fixed, defrosting went as well as expected.

So, what did you have to do for the kit? Just paint-on some kind of copper traces yourself?

It's a bit late for me, since the window has tint on it, and I don't want to bother... Anyways, I usually only drive my Jeep in the winter because I'm paranoid of getting in a wreck in my civic, so it doesn't really matter anyways.

In a perfect world i could keep my civic in the garage all winter protected from salt. oh well....
well then just as an FYI, yes the kit is a paint on kind. it came with a tiny stencil only an inch long so i made my own and that cut down on some time. i think it was only $5

That's cool though, I didn't know they had kits for that, so I'll have to keep that in mind in case I decide to do it in the future.

Thanks

woo hoo!

glad to be able to offer something!!
i also remember when i first got my honda and i had no other safe haven besides in my car cruisin all night...in the winter the windows would ice up. about an inch thick at the bottom and it was quite funny to have to scrap the windows on the inside. hasn't happened in awhile but i haven't heated up my interior off and on in one driving like that in a long time.
