Question differential bearing => new transmission ???

I went to the dealership to check a noise that was coming from the front tire. They said that it was my differential bearing and that I needed a new transmission. They said the cost of the transmission and installation would be $3500.

Can a differential bearing be replaced without getting a new transmission? If so, how? Thanks!
