Hi Everyone,
I have a '95 Neon (automatic) and recently it has been acting odd. When I get into the 30 through 40 mph range the car shakes. Sometimes pretty violently. When I get past 40 it smooths out again. I know next to nothing about cars, but it seemed pretty obvious that changing gears has something to do with it. Anyway, I've had several mechanics look at it over the past few weeks and no body knows what's the problem. I've been told so many different answers I'm not sure what to think. I'm waiting for at least two guys to agree on the problem before I sink hundreds of dollars into repairs. All I can tell you is that it isn't uneven tires (as was suggested to me) because I've since replaced them with no effect. It's getting worse, and I need to fix it, so any suggestions out there that I could pass on to a mechanic (to check out) would might help. I thought it was the transmission, but so far, no one has said that's the probelm. Thanks all, Andrew |

When was the tune up done. Might be due for one. Sounds like you may have a bad plug and/or wire.

Thanks for responding so fast. When I took my car in to get its' inspection (around the first week of June) I asked them to give it a tune up as well. The problem had already started and I mentioned it to the mechanics (whom are pretty good). They didn't find anything wrong and suggested it could be the tires being uneven. I didn't use my car much back then, but I've moved recently and have been puttingit through the paces a bit more lately. I think this has greatly accelerated the problem. Andrew |

It might not have anything to do with your transmission. You might have a bad wheel bearing or CV joint.
Take it to a five star Dodge dealership and I will bet you money they find the problem and fix it right. It might cost more, but trust me, they are worth it. |

I'm glad that you've had good experiences with five-star dealers. The reality is that Chrysler very truly doesn't care about the quality of their five-star dealers, and only uses that "Five-Star" thing as a advertising gimmick. Perhaps long ago it was different, but it has been this way for at least the last ten years.
I have heard, read, and had myself far more bad experiences at all Chrysler dealers, five-star or no, than I have good ones. The only way to guarantee a good dealer is word-of-mouth. And I'd bet the farm that one complaint, no matter how worthy, is NOT going to strip a five-star dealer of their stars. |
