Strange Problem......help!

Well I was driving to pick up some new belts for my UR UDP, and I get to where I'm going park in a spot and put the car in park (yes it is automatic) and you know when you put it in park the RPMs do go up a little, like from 700 to 1000 or 1100? Well when I put it in park the RPMs jumped to around 2600 or 2700! The car was acting like my foot was still on the throttle. Well my foot wasn't on it, so I popped the hood and decided to check under there, the problem is still happeneing. I then just moved the thorttle cresent moom thing that holds the thorttle cable and reved the eninge that way and the RPMs fell back to normal. I have no idea what caused this, someone please shed some light on this for me.

i bet it has something to do with your idle being set too high. my uncle had the same problem with his taurus, and the dealer just turned the idle down a bit
