Unhappy Alpine Type R Components Mess!!

Did anyone have this much trouble doing this?????

Ok here's the deal.... I just installed some Alpine Type R 6.5 Components in my 97 Civic Coupe. I had a hell of a time doing it though. First of all the speakers were too big to fit in the stock hole, so i trimmed the door panel and the metal around the door (banged and banged to do it). They finally fit but i can barely fit the stock cover over the speaker. Now for the tweeters, they didn't fit in the stock pod thing that the stock ones were in, so i tried to glue them in there.. ok might have been a dumb idea. but its done...

Now for the wiring, I just passed a new wire to the x-over which I put in the doors. I just need to know if there is an easier way to get the wire through the door without showing or if its possible to use the stock wires. I am pushing the set with Rockford 600.4. Also now i have some engine noise which i didn't have before, probably cuz i passed the speaker wire too close under the dash. Anyways... enuff complaining, I guess i just need help with passing the wire through the doors. If anyone has any tips let me know.

BTW They do sound pretty good though even though i didn't screw them down too good.

alpine type r components

i am a circuit city car stereo sales associate/installer so i have enough knowledge and experience to give you the following advice. the type -r are a bitch to put into civics (most cars in general). that's because the type r's have a huge basket. the 6.5" components are oversized so they only fit cars with oversized 6.5" OEM speakers e.g. Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you were to get to 5.25" type r's they would have fit a lot better. As for the speaker wire, the best way is to run new speaker wire from the amp to the door. There's a grommet (a rubber plug) on the door jamb by the hinge (you'll see it when you open the door all the way) where you can run the wire through to the door itself. the door might not have a hole so you may have to drill one from the inside out. just remove the door panel and the speaker and you should be able to drill a hole large enough to run the speaker wire. Finally, the engine noise can be resulting from a variety of causes. The speaker wire should not be near any power/ground/remote turn on wire. The speaker wire should only be next to rca wires. if they are, one trick to get rid of engine noise is to ground everything to the battery. this may cost more since you have to buy longer ground wires. what i did in my car is run a big ground wire from the battery's ground to a grounding distribution block, and then all the ground is ran to the distribution block. if this still does not work, run a ground wire and splice it into the radio's ground from behind the radio and connect it to the rockford's ground terminal on the amp. Hope this helps you out..Tell me how everything turns out.
