HELP: Tail lights, parking lights and instrument panel lights out!

96 Honda Accord LX

I smelled smoke for a few seconds while driving and noticed I had no instrument panel lights. I also lost my tail lights and parking lights (front and back). I checked the fuse board under the steering wheel but none for any of these. Is there some other fuses that I am missing? How do I fix this?

I have a 96 as well, but I'm not sure where those fuses would be located...I don't have my book on me. Check the fuse box under the hood. Even if that's the problem, you still have to find out why separate lights went off at once. Any of those lights aftermarket?

it is just a fuse, i had that happen in my accord when i ran into somebody. one fuse blew and it took out the parking lights, dash lights, and taillights. headlights still worked and i limped home 40 miles with my hazard lights on at 11 at night. it seems to me like it was the fuse box under the dash, but if not there is another fuse box under the hood and it would be in there. i can check if i get a chance but it should not be hard to find, and just one fuse should be your problem. might want to find out why the fuse blew though, mine was because i wrecked but if it just did it while you were driving there might be a problem.

I guess I will have to buy an owners manual somewhere (car came without one when I bought it a year ago).

But I checked the two fuse panels (under the hood and under steering wheel) and none have a fuse labeled parking lights or tail lights, etc. I found everything else including headlights. I called the dealership and Discount Auto Parts but no one can help me. Any suggestions?

A few days ago (August 11th 2003) our 1991 Honda Accord was having the same problem. We believe our Dash and Tail lights went out when we hooked up a Pop Up trailer to our car. At first all park, brake, tail, reverse lights were working, then we noticed a few days later that the dash and tail lights (running lights) were not working, every thing else was. My husband, checked and doubled checked the fuses, the wire connections, also the fuses under the steering wheel.

I have a brother who works for a Honda Car Plant and he came over yesterday to help us. He noticed right away what we had "checked and double checked" A BLOWN FUSE...under the hood. He was able to spot it right away. It was called the "small bulb or small lights fuse." All lights are now working and we are back in business. Thanks to my brother we can now drive at night again. As far as the trailer hook up, we have installed a converter box to attached the trailer wires to. We have not had time to hook up the trailer yet to make sure no fuses blow again, but we will soon. At least we are on the right track and believe we have solved this problem. Hope this info helps someone else. Thanks again everyone.

Yeah, one fuse tends to control more than one thing. For instance, I had blown a fuse that was called the "back-up radio" fuse, but it also happened to control the clock.
