Angry 2002 Monte instrument panel lights and tail lights fuse blowing REPEATEDLY!!!

Does anyone know why my fuse keeps blowing, and how I can fix this. I have very dim instrument (dash) lights and no it is not the dimmer toggle on the side. This is a legitamate electrical problem which is caussing the fuse in the passenger compartment for tail lights, instrument cluster, shifter lights and radio head to be dim to the point of barely there.
I'm pissed how is it Chevy (GM) doesn't have these type of problems under control, but charge a rediculouse amount of money for the vehicle. Think about it, the cars now a days use far cheaper parts and cost less man power to build, yet they break way easier and cost more than any car my grandpa ever bought, and his lasted way longer than 3 years. Did they ever have things break back in the day. And if they did wouldn't the manufacturer take care of it since it is they're design that was inadequate.

Re: 2002 Monte instrument panel lights and tail lights fuse blowing REPEATEDLY!!!

I had this problem with another vehicle but it may be the solution for this one as well. I installed an aftermarket CD player and didn't pay for the wire harness adapter that connects directly to the factory harness. Instead, I clipped all the wires and ohmed out the hots and the grounds and traced the speaker wires. One wire was important though. It was for the dash illumination lights and the tail lights. Apparantly the engineers designed the circuit for these lights to go through the factory stereo as well. This is why your stereo lights up when your DRL (Day time Running Lights) kick in at night. If someone installed your radio incorrectly then this wire could be grounded to the chassis instead of the correct ground that completes the illumination circuit. When it grounds to the chassis it completes a 12 volt 700 amp circuit, which blows any fuse in your fuse box. This is the "short" that was described in the vague answer preceding my input. Good luck. P.S. I am a huge MC fan for a reason. Have faith!
