too young for lude?

hey im 17 years old and was considering getting a 5th gen, preferably a 99+ base. my question is if both my parents have their own cars, and i try to insure it under their name, would they force me to be the primary driver instead of the secondary or occasional driver? Im not gonna use it too often since i live close to my school, can i try to prove to them that i dont drive often and my dad drives it more than i do?

I understand man. My parents didn't want to let me drive cuz of the insurance rates, and bcuz teens are irresponsible, crash a lot, blah blah blah. But it does cost a lot of money. But i think that they are going to put u as the secondary driver, that's what happened with me.

BTW if ur not gonna drive it a lot and u live so close to ur school, why buy it ?

yes both of my parents have their own cars, i had to go solo and do everything myself so my parents would think that i am "responsible".
I started to work and everything to be able to buy a car and pay 4 insurance. But my cousin just gave me his lude as a gift for being able to get my license and that saved me a lot of money. Its old, 85, but its cool and fun to drive. And yes i do have 2 siblings, and they are a pain. They always treat me with no respect, but that how i treat them too, brotherly love. Ever since i got my car though theyve been annoying me with carpool requests. I just did it for a week to get my parents approval of me driving, after that i ditched them.
Anyway, how about u dude?

yea getting the cars not the problem...i just have to pay 7000 and my parents will cover the rest..i pay gas/maintenence etc and insurance hopefully they'll get that covered. my prob is that im the only child and worried that the insurance co will force me to go primary driver...if ur insured to the same company as ur parents and the house will u get discount?

usually you do. Its way cheaper if ur under ur parents name than if you get ur own insurance. Also some insurance give you discounts for good grades usually above a B average. However the insurance rates for boys is 3x as much as girls. I hate that!

That's because girls can cry their way out of tickets. I say there needs to be more female cops.

this is how it works with my parents insurance company anyways, my parents both had their own car and when I got mine, I couldnt own it so then they had 3. but under our company, how many licensed drivers there are, thats how many primary drivers there are. so I was the primary driver of their 3rd(my) car. but if they only had 2 cars, id be a secondary driver to one of those and it would have been a bit cheaper.

oh yeah, heres a tip, DONT SPEED, I know its lots of fun but I got 8 speeding tickets right now and you dont know how much I wish I could go back and start over, I pay 170 liability only on a hatch and have been driving with no accidents for almost 4 years. and once you get a record like mine, you dont get a second chance. a friend of mine who has no tickets has gotten pulled over about 3x more than me in the lst few months, for worse infractions, but when they look at his clean record he gets off with it. when they see my tainted record, I got no chance, the tickets in my hand before I know whats going on.

wo.
thanks for the info man. And ur rught speeding is fun but i think that is the best way to get a ticket. Speeding is one of my weaknesses, and another thing is that i dont feel my car going fast so i dont really know. But ive been driving for about a year now and still got no tickets. However i do drive pretty sloppy when im fooling around. Almost got in three crashes already. Fortunately nothing happened. I supposively pay about $100-150/month for insurance, at least thats what my parents say. What would happen if you speed on a highway, like e.g. from California to Arizona, where there is nothing but road, could you get out of a ticket if i get pulled over?

well, if its deserted and you arent going a crazy amount over the limit, like say 10-15 over there might be a chance, and if a cop ever pulls up behind you when you are speeding like this on the freeway, dont slow hella quick, just let off the gas and drop to the speed limit, its happened to 2 of my friends and the cop pulled up behind one and another klid said to slow down slowly, once we did the cop sat there next to us for about 20 seconds, and left. and another time, the same thing happened, maybe they just wanna see if you are paying good attention to whats going on around you. but if you are like 15 over I doubt it and 20 over, your screwed. all my tickets but 1 have been more than 15 over, and all but 2 have been on them damn 35 mph side roads. I barely ever go 20+ over on the 55 mph highway, but on them damn 35's I cant seem to slow down.

really! Damn im screwed then. With my family we usually go like 80-85. When i go i like to go faster cuz its so boring. I usually hit like 90-100 in the desert, but luckily no cops around or busy citing tickets to other speeders. Im gonna have to buy a radar then.
