stuck ignition

the ignition on my 94 cavalier seems to be stuck, so that i can turn the car on without using the key and i can take out the keys while im driving with no effect. the car thinks that my keys are still in when i open the doors cause it dings. i was wondering if anyone knew a way to fix it without having to replace the igintion, if that cant be done then what is the cheapest way to replace it?
