y8 swap

Ok, I have been hearing so many conflicting stories on this so I just want to find out what is right...

D16Y8 1.6 16V SOHC VTEC-II PGM-FI 1590 127hp@6600rpm 107tq@5500rpm '96-'00 Civic EX (USA)

Some people say this will fit right into my 91 hatch STD without modification (to fit it in anyway) and some say no...

Which is it??

And I hear the main problems will be with the MPFI, and getting the vtec hooked up....and I guess that involves converting to obd2 with this motor...correct so far ??

What exactly is converting to obd2 and why will be the hard part about it? People say it is easier to conv to obd1 if I went with a z6 but I do not know the difference.

I would like to do the y8 because I found one with low low miles in nice shape near my house... Is this a feasible swap for not much dough and headache??? My main concern is reliability right now.

..its exactly the same as the z6 swap...it bolts right in using a 88-91 tranny... there's no need to do OBD2..just get an OBD1 ecu and wire it for that and it'll be fine... search for the million or so posts about the sohc vtec or d16z6 swap... they're exactly the same..

That's great, thanks! I was hearing alot of conflicting opinions on that.

I found one last night in the town next to me for a good deal with tranny and a few upgrades. I would still have to buy an ecu but they should not be too expensive for that year I would think.

How come alot of people do not do the y8 swap? I know it is not the fastest thing out there but it sounds like it is easy (bolts in), cheaper, and more reliable than the zc...

What's the catch?

...probably b/c z6 swaps can be had a bit cheaper than y8's..
