Scale Auto magazine wants writers!
Hello fellow modelers,
Scale Auto magazine is looking for some new writers to generate content for the publication. We're impressed by the posts here and decided to see if some of you would like to share your knowledge with us, as well. You don't have to have any previous experience. We're looking for good how-to articles on just about any subject. From Tuners to trucks – we're looking for some content. Scale Auto works on a submission basis – you write and take photos of your articles and send them to us. We review them and if we decide to use the story, you get paid. We noticed that there are a good deal of import modelers (or tuners, sport-compacts, etc.) on here, and that's great – it's a subject we'd like to get into the mag to better serve that community. However, we still love muscle cars, hot rods, semis, and so on. If it can be driven, we're interested. Take a look at our Article Submission Guidelines (found here). We do accept digital photos as long as they're high-resolution (e.g. taken with a 3.3 megapixel or higher camera). Photos are key; if you don't have good photos, people can't see what you're doing. We need good photos. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] with questions, or simply post here. We'd love to have some of the modelers on Automotiveforums.com also contribute to Scale Auto! You can send submissions to: Scale Auto 21027 Crossroads Circle P.O. Box 1612 Waukesha, WI 53187-1612 Thanks, Andy Lilienthal Associate Editor, Scale Auto magazine Avid modeler 98 Honda Civic EX coupe w/mods

Right on Andy, and welcome. I have been on this forum a month or so and there really is some great info here, as well as some very talented modelers.
I am very impressed to see you here soliciting more articels. I have to say I am really bummed that I only get Scale Auto bi-monthly, its a highlight of the month for me and I eagerly await my next issue.I was really excited to see my 64 GTO in the February Issue with coverage of Heartland Nationals in KC. I tried to stir up some interest on another board where we were disscussing this but really didn't get much response. How about contest coverage? I would really like to see more from the local shows. You can expect an article from me on the Good Guys event here in Colorado in September. All you AFers out there this is a great oppurtunitty to put all those FAQs and How Tos to good use. And if you have never purchased a copy of Scale Auto get out there and get one, its a great magazine in support of our hobby. |

welcome!!!
i can also vouch for how usefull the information is on this site...i actually found it while looking for die cast models, now im hooked on plastic kits. i have to admit i have never even seen scale auto mag...one of the dangers of living outside of the USofA i suppose. i will have to go and pester my local WHSmiths to order it in i may have a go at doing a bit of writing, just for the hell of it really. iv always enjoyed journalistic style writing. i have a couple of interesting projects on the go, but im only a newbie to this world so my skills are obviously well below standard. |

Its about time someone from a model car publication took note of this forum, or any model car forum for that matter
Welcome Andy ![]() As you can see, there is a stack of information to be found in the pages of this forum. Lots of tips and techniques to learn and models to see, some of the work these guys produce is nothing short of museum quality stuff - i'm sure you will agree Until I eventually got access to the internet and discovered forums like this, magazines such as SAE were the only source of info to be had. The only downside of course is that you have to wait at least one month before you get your fix, unlike here there is something new every day. On top of that, its interactive so if there is something you don't understand or need to find out quickly, you just ask. There is no doubt that these forums are a huge benefit to our hobby, which is why I really think there should be, at some point, a feature in your magazine to spread the word. I'm not just talking about AF here, there are several others which you can look at and discuss such as; http://www.briansmodelcars.com/mb/index.asp http://www.modelcarkits.com/cgi-bin/webbbs/board.cgi http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RallyCarModelGroup/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/modelcarbuilder/ So how about it?

I'm currently working on two articles for Andy/Scale Auto using SAS parts-the Celica and the 350Z's (Chris, gotta have that Nismo!). And I have a couple other useful articles in the wings for them as well. Hope more of the guys here can help 'em out.

ZoomZoomMX-5: Yes, indeed, you did suggest this site and I appreciate it! I've been looking around here for several months and like what I see! BTW, I will be in Toledo again this October and can't wait to put my latest project on the table (nothing too special, just a JDM-style Fujimi CRX Si).
Again, thank you for the warm welcome, and I look forward to seeing some of your work show up at our office!

Welcome to AF!
It will be nice to see more model cars from European and Japan countries in SA. I think that from this forum you can get it. I was subscriber to AF before but I didn't continue because there was mostly US cars in magazine and for rest of us who like 'importers' much less articles.

Welcome to AF, Andy. As you can subscribe the magazine as a UK civilian, I guess I could do that as a German, too.
