Ground Control coilovers

I just ordered some GC coilovers and I was wondering what would be some good shocks to go with those and when will my stock shocks give out? And has anyone had any problems with them at all? Thanks

which version did you get. they have a version for the tokiko's and they have a version for the koni/kyb. if you got the tokiko version then go with some tokiko illumina's if you got the koni/kyb version get some koni yellows. i had my GC's for about 8 months and i haven't had a problem with them the ride was pretty good until my shocks blew out like a month ago(tokiko blue's are no good for dropped cars). instead of replacing the shocks i'm just going to go with a full coilover setup.

Go with true coil-overs or spring/shock -- no sleeve springs

H&R's Cup Kit is a nice deal -- matched shocks & springs -- H&R also has sweet coilover set-ups.

KYB-AGX does NOT recommend using them with sleeve coilovers

I really really wanted some tein coilovers, but I don`t have nearly enough money. I wanted something reliable and inexpensive.

IMO you should have went with spring & shocks, but its your $$$ & car do as you please.

Heres the issue.

For the cost of a good set of coilovers now, there is really no reason to save up the 700-1000$

The only good reason to go with CG coil sleeves, or Skunk2 is because you can order custom spring rates and length.

However the only OTS shock capable and warranties with these is the Koni Sport shocks, and for the cost of both you could have a coilover setup.

Autoxers like the CG, koni yellow setups because you can specify your specs for the springs. I have myself seen how capable these setups can be.

If you don't know spring rates, don't race, don't bother with CG, Skunk2 or Koni yellows.

I installed Skunk2 springs on my 99 Si using the stock shocks.. They are awsome, the ride is good, lowered about 2.5 inches. I used SPC control arms to adjust the camber.

If you want to start with something inexpensive, I would go with the Skunk2 springs, I picked them up for $169.99 shipped.

I've been killing people with my Ground Control coilovers with Koni Yellows against people who have "real" coilover systems in autocrossing. Problem with "real" coilover systems is that in most cases you cannot order custom rate springs which makes a world of difference.

Most cases, or most companies? With Tein ANYTHING is possible with spring rates and shock valving adjustments. I just got done orsering +2kg springs for my Teins and they feel great! I'm now running SS model with the stiffness of the HA model. You can order them with any spring rate you want in 1kg increments and can get the shocks revalved according to the springs rqtes you order for them if they are greater or less than 2kg differance from standard rates for the model used. Best thing is, a spring upgrade only sets you back $50 per shock, and revalving is $100 per shock. Not too shabby.

I agree with CivicSiRacer though on the G/C and Koni Yellow combo. If I hadn't gotten my Teins, that's most likely what I would have gotten. But I got the Tein because it was supposed to be a smoother ride, plus it would have worked out to about the same price, minus maybe like $100 or so for the combo setup. Figure $300 for G/C's and $500 for well priced Yellows. That's $800 right there for shocks and springs, which is only $50 less than what I paid for. Of course naturally the smart thing IMO was to go with the Teins since the shop I got mine from sells them for $850. Sure the combo would have been great, but at least I have shocks with valving perfectly matched to the springs on them, and that's what I was going for as I know that can make or break the comfort aspect of my ride which I needed to preserve, or wanted to rather.
