Talking stereo install

hey people,

I installed a new HU a few years back(Alpine, good stuff!!), now it i have the time and money to finish the system, I will upgrade my door speakers to pioneers, I have two 10" orion subs, and a 400 watt Rockford amp. I will be mounting the amp in the trunk, I understand that I should run the power cable down one side of the car, and the RCA, remote down the other. My question is what is the process of running them down the sides, is it just removing the plastic moulding at the floor of the doorframes peeling back the carpet and running the wire? is there a detailed post on this process? Should I use 10 or 12 guage wire??

Thanks for you help

just pull up the plastic trim that run along the doors there are already wires running through there. There will be space to do so i think 10 or 12 would fit and also pull up the carpet. you might have to take your back seat out too if you really want to hide the carpet.

running the wires down the side of the car through the door trim is the easiest way, but prolly isn't the safiest way b/c the wires could be snagged or cut. the best is to take out your seats and carpet and run it down the middle, but make sure your battery cable and your RCA cables r seperated, for they screw up when next to each other. but this will prolly take a long time to do, and if a wire goes bad or something, it's a pain in the ass to fix. but it's up to u. and i would prolly suggestion 10 guage, it all has to do w/ the amount of power you're running.

length of RCAs ?

What length of RCA cable should I buy if i am running the wires from the HU down the passenger side under the door trim to the amp mounted in the trunk?? Also I know that the remote wire does not have to be to thick, would regular 16 guage speaker wire work for the remote?

Thanks

this is chevy freak on my friends name and too lazy to switch back. Anywho just check the length of the car and get the wire about that. i dont remember what i used on mine. but if its too long you can always rap the slack up or to short you can buy extensions with one female end on it to make it longer. So you easiest way it to go buy or get the rca cables that are close to the length of your car and that should be plenty.
