i find that italian red by any company is a bit too red. ive been mixing my own. i start with Model Master Italian Red Acryl then add orange until happy. also the ferrari red changes depending on how old car is. the Modena is almost orange in real life. for steel i use Alclad II steel. but all this is for air-brushing. TS-8 is the best in a can ive seen but only for older ferraris. for steel you could start with flat aluminum fx-16 and add little bit of flat black till happy. just some ideas

As an after thought... if using TS-8 maybe try an orange under coat. this would help alot.

I would spray with TS8 but paint the inside of the car black to help darken the red to give it a darker better look.
X10 is very very close to TS-38 gunmetal.

those rims are gunmetal ? I see no difference with XF-56 that I use..
I try to see what shade of paint I will need to make the engin look better. XF-16 is not always the good color..

I know that you're building the F40.. but if you build any more of the latest Ferrari Formula 1 cars, the color they reccomend is TS-49 - bright red, TS-8 just seems too dark for the recent Ferrari F1 cars.

I've seen the F40 in person several times, and from what I remember, TS-8 is too dark and reddish, and TS-49 is too bright and orangish. It's somewhere in-betweeen. But I do remember seeing a dark red F40 on photo, so it could have been custom ordered, and in that case, you can pick any color you want.
In fact, the Enzo's red is usually Rosso Corsa, but when I saw an Enzo, owned (or leased) by Bridgestone, it looked definitely brighter just like the F1 color, i.e. TS-49. |
