95 SE Aftermarket CD Player Problems

I'm trying to install an Aiwa aftermarket CD player into my 95 SE. It has the premium sound package. All of my electrical connections are right but when i connect it and turn on the car there is no sound. The CD player comes on, the cd plays, but no sound comes out. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

are you sure you wired it up correctly. i know when we wired up a cd player to my friends old cougar it did the same thing. turns out, circuit city sold us the wrong adapter.

I had the same exact problem when I installed a new CD head unit in my car.

Turns out there were a second set of plugs mounted behind the radio.

Basically in my car, the signal come out of the stock radio, goes to the back deck and through the factory amp, then back up front where it connects to another set of plugs (looks exactally the same as the ones plugged into the radio), then out to the speakers.

Feel around in the dash, through the hole where the radio came out of. I'm willing to bet you'll find another set of plugs that look just like the plugs that plug into the radio.

I actually got it to work finally. Turns out on the wiring harness there is a "amp turn on" wire. I connected it and bam it works. Now here's what i think is messed up... Crutchfield is selling both an amp bypass kit (~$20) and an amp interface kit (~$70). People are gettin ripped off.

yo man i just got a new pioneer head unit for my contour and i had mad of my friends look at it so i wouldnt have to pay to have it installed and my friend wired up all the power grounds and all that other stuff and it works, the power comes on but nobody could find my speaker wires, so i finally took it to best buy and i told the guy there about my problem and he said that i have premium sound and that means that i have a factory amp in my car so the speaker wires are in the back of my car (in the trunk somewhere) and he said that it would cost like $300 to install it, what should i do?

all cars have amps in their cars. how else would they be able to power the speakers. the guy at best buy obviously doesnt know what hes talking about. Buy the wiring harness from circuit city or best buy and wire it up correctly.
