Question What every good Maxima owner should know..?

hey boys,

Since y'all seem to be the (s)expert(s) I thought I'd ask a few q's which most dealerships might not answer correctly (to their benefit):

-a- Do 95-99 Maxima's come with timing belt OR chain? What type of 'service' should an owner do for this? (My '95 is at 102k miles with nothing ever done about this) Does a timing chain need to be SERVICED? (I heard chains do not need servicing like *belts* do)

-b- Is it common for a 1995 Maxima GXE model to lose suspension strenght by now (2003)? I had to replace front struts last year - now the rear portion of car just lovvvves to bounce sideways when hit even the slightest bump at highway speeds. Does this mean change for rear struts too? (i should've got the better-suspension SE model)

-c- Do bearings (back and front) need full replacement after 100k miles usually? (my front ones are creaking too much)

I want to thank y'all for the help given - I will soon be able to answer some posts for some 'newbies' also!!

Will do B2k -- thanks v. much.

Btw, any major issues with your 2000 MAX gxe? I 'heard' that 'first year' cars (of new redesign) are always problematic -- I have the 1995 (first year of redesign) and u have 2000 (first year also) ...what is your op?

I've got a 95 and Its been nothing short of wonderful. No major problems at all. We have a timing chain that is designed to last the life of the car, no maintance required. Also, about the suspension...I just changed out my struts and springs about a week and a half ago, and I could push the stock ones in with my hand(bad strut.) And I have the SE. I think that replecements would be a good idea for you.
Kevin.

First off it isn't B2k, don't worry everyone makes that mistake, it is BK2, I know of that Kid Group but that is more of my daughter's generation, hehe.

I have had no problems other than the stupid weak @$$ tranny go out and since then nothing has went wrong with my car.

The 2k has the least amount of issues when it comes to the 5th genners, although they're are plenty of small issues (TSB's for them easy fixers, most of them) they aren't significant enough to mention and definitely nothing that will keep the car from running.

I have 136K on my 2k and Thank God/Jesus nothing has went wrong with my engine or tranny<since the new one installed.

I have seen on the .org that many of the 2k2/2k3 have multiple problems with their MAFS failing and other problems that aren't problematic to the 2k.
You can go to this site to see the TSB's for the 2k but like I said, I have none of the issues related to them:
