Lightbulb Make me quicker !!!!!!

Is there any cheap (free) way I can make my 1989 Honda Accord LX (carb, auto trans) faster? It just doesn't have the acceleration I'm looking for. Again, I must stress cheap (close to free). Wondering if anyone has any 'tricks of the trade' they'd like to share.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!!!

It just dose'nt work like that. If you want performance, you'll have to pay for it.

What about "I just bought my new i/h/e setup for about $700 to free up some horsepower."

J/K I agree with his statement. Theres nothing free about performance. The only "free" things you can do to improve your Accord's performance is take out the catalytic (sp) converter for a 1hp gain, take the cover off your airbox for a .5hp gain, and remove your spare tire and backseat to lose some weight.

Keep in mind this all must be done yourself in order to be free. And it aint worth the time. I used to drive my dad's 89 accord 5spd. 0-60 in 12.....minutes. Its no fun, but if you want that 3G to start spankin 93 Maximas, then you're gonna have to work for it.

BTW how much hp does that engine put out stock? I never really knew. Did it use a D series?

actually there is a way...

1. before you go to bed, open your hood.
2. leave it that way all night.
3. if you do steps 1 and 2 correctly the HP fairy will come visit you.

she might leave u a clue too...

Is that supposed to say ride a "snowboard" or "snowboardER"? Riding a snowboarder is not something along my lines of fun Unless its a female snowboarder

Just wondering. I know nothing about the act of snowboarding

Wow. I asked a question, I made no accusations. Calm your happy ass down. Maybe you had a typo, just tryna understand (even though you explained nothing ).

I am interested as to what you have to say about my profile. Especially seeing as how I commented on your signature, NOT your profile.

Well FAB4 (like the name. it calls to mind a 4 member band that were revolutionary musically)

First thing is to lighten the car like it has been mentioned. You can't pay anyone or spend any money in order to accomplish this or else it won't be as you requested "FREE".

Open up your cars ability to breathe in. Clean the engine (by hand). Grab a rag and start cleaning. You may have to remove some items in order to get them clean. Remove extra dirt from components because they don't help in your engines heat to dissipate. Now when I say clean I mean surface accumulation of oil, grime and dirt. With that stuff caked on engine heat isn't easily dissipated as I said earlier.

But for all intents and purposes, yes you're gonna have to spend some money. Carbed, there's some great parts for carbed Hondas but you'll have to spend. Change out hoses are small areas, maintain consistent upkeep, oil, trans fluid and tune ups. I don't really know where else to go with no $. How 'bout to the nearest intersection with a cardboard sign?
