Metal Plated? Not quite.

As you can see in the following pictures of my metal plated 350Z, I've had to do some sanding on various parts to remove mold lines. Luckily, I bought this kit on clearance, so to a point I didn't pay extra for the 'metal-plated part of it. It seems that the outside is done in a light coat of Silver leaf, while the inside feels like it is plated in a very thin aluminum. When I first examined the body of mine, I noticed some strange black/brown smudges, which turned out to be permanent. I've used enamel thinner, windex, soap+water, and the only method that has removed them is rubbing compound, which also took off the exterior paint. At first I decided to leave the body intact, with all the blemishes, for the sake of it being the "Metal Plated Version", but I might enjoy painting it in the long run.

Bottom Line: Don't spend your money on this version, unless you really want to..

hehe, i fell in love with this car the first time i saw it. i love Nissan to death (Silvia S13 owner ). so when Tamiya released it i bought 2 of them. then i saw the "metal-plate" version so i ordered it right away!!! and mine too was blemished and very dissapointing, especially considering i spent $10 more for the bastard. anyhow... i found that Alclad II High Polish Aluminum worked well for reproducing this color though as an after thought Light Aluminum might be a little better. so yeah, i agree... not worth the money unless you dont like painting bodies and need need to build this car. as a note: my blemishes were of the flash sort which are the same flash problems as the regular kit. why bother releasing a special edition painted version but not remove the flash??? and damn you Syndicate... now i proof-read all my replies to you ; very time consuming.

I bought the metal plated S2000 which is just as bad. All the mold lines are present, but I only bought it because it was the only S2000 available at the time. But I didn't have any stains on mine.
