v6 to v8 swap, please help im dumb?!?!
alright i just got a 1983 convertable in mint condition, but downside is its a 6 cyclinder, pretty quick but it dosent roar like a V8. Is it possible to swap it to a v8 5.0 engine, what is involved in doing this, also i will not sell it for a 8 cyl mustang because this is my first car and my grandpa gave it to me, so i want to keep it. Please help, i know it can be done, but no matter how hard, or what is involved, i know i could do it. I've done swaps but it was a 300ZX n/a to turbo swap so its not the same. Please tell me what i'd have to do.

alright, i have another idea cause the V8 is a little more work then i want to do (but if someone would actualy reply to tell me what i'd have to do id know for shore if i could do it). My friend has a supercharged V6 mustang engine from a 1993 that he is willing to sell me for $900 and my playstation 2. Would that fit into my 1983 convertable? please answer, need more power, im sure you guys can understand. I would also do daul exhaust with flowmasters and 2 1/2 cowl hood, if that would help get an answer, dont see why it would but please answer.

Did the same thing to my '83 convertible.4 barrel carb,'88 roller motor,C4 trans and a 3,55 axle.Even rebodied it to look like an '87 up.Car was cheap, fast and fun.For under $1700.00 I had a new-looking 'vert that would run a low 14.It's not hard to do-now,the V6 supercharged thing....
HIRE SOMEBODYand be prepared to pay BIG bucks to get it working. Not a wise plan. |

V6 to V8 swap? Ignition, tachometer, exhaust, engine for sure. The rest I'm not as sure about.
The V6 and the V8 weren't too far apart back in 83. Now the old I6 to V8 swap is a nightmare. Anyway, there was no V6 Mustang in 1993 so I'm not sure what he's offering you. Perhaps a Thunderbird SuperCoupe engine. Once you start getting into swapping entire engine harnesses while converting to EFI and all that, you run into less fun.

The driveshaft doesn't need to be shortened. It's the same one.Ford transmissions;C4,C5,AOD,SROD and T-5 are near identical length and use the same output shaft spline count.
