Flawless?

In one of my favorite movies, one character says to another, "I think we are all hopelessly flawed." To what extent do you think this is true?

Myself? I do believe that there doesn't exist one human without a flaw of some kind, whether it be a flaw of character, or a physical flaw. I find it impossible to believe that anyone can be perfect. However, I do not believe that anyone is hopelessly flawed. Of course, one's definition of flaw opens itself to interpretation. What one person may think of a flaw may not be viewed so by another. Flaws give character and personality to things. I'll never forget hearing someone explain that a scratch on a pick-truck adds character.

So, what are your thoughts?

Which movie?

We are flawed and we are trying to remove those flaws. I've been reading Leo Tolstoi (the same guy who wrote War & Peace) who wrote The Kingdom of God is Within You about Christianity. This is what he has to say on the subject:

Quote:
The divine perfection is the asymptote of human life to which it is always striving, and always approaching, though it can only be reached in infinity.
It's mathematical, yes, but to me it makes a lot of sense. We can never be perfect but we can try hard to get there. It is this journey that makes up human life!

Well, we are all flawed. It's that simple.

In my fave movie "GATTACA" even the genetically engineered son is no match for the "love child" once he put his determination to the test... I found it very touching....

I'm afraid that that shall remain nameless. I will say this though, it was said by a German philosopher turned professor in the late 19th century...in a New York boarding house while assisting a young writer by drying off the pages of her manuscript by the fireplace... over a nice strong cup of coffee. That's all you'll get out of me.

You liked Gattaca? My fiance liked it too. I was bored to tears by that thing. I'm beginning to think that it was a chick flick based on who liked it.
