Smile For Sale: 1993 GS-R, Flawless Condition

We bought a house and need something bigger, so now - after eight wonderful years of V-TEC, I've got to find something that can haul crap rather than just hauling azz.

260,000KM is hardly flawless....I'm guessing thats in the ballpark of 140,000 - 170,000 miles. I don't know how many American dollars are in $9,000 CDN, but I'm also assuming that is over $7,000 American....

I think its a little steep personally, but good luck.

Re: For Sale: 1993 GS-R, Flawless Condition

its 161,500 miles which isn't THAT much on a honda. that $7,335 US dollars. Thats still a pretty steep price for a 93. good luck getting that!

We weren’t really sure how much to ask for the GS-R, but the last two unmodified GS-R’s that sold in Vancouver (one on the Buy and Sell, the other in the Sun) were ‘92s, had over 200,000kms, didn’t have the complete repair history that our car has and both still sold for around $8000 (one for $7800, the other for $8500). Our GS-R is one year newer, shockingly clean, has a new clutch, radiator, brakes, and has been fanatically maintained… so we figured that might justify the $500 difference over the other two GS-Rs.

Vancouver's used car market is very different than most. Imports (especially Honda's and Toyota's) go for a premium. Even after you factor in the exchange rate, an Integra that sells for $6000 USD in Seattle, WA should cost about $8100 CDN given a normal exchange rate (1.35). Right now, the highly unusual exchange rate (1.19 - the lowest in 12 years) skews the price for an American buyer, but for a Canadian buyer - the cars still go for more. Search for Integra's on buysell.ca and you'll find several 1992-93 4dr/AT/LS Integra's for $7000-9000CDN. In this market, a $9000CDN GS-R isn't completely out of line.

We also took into consideration the fact that the last time we sold a car, folks lambasted us with offers that were as much as $2000 below Canadian black book. So we figured that if we priced it a little on the high side – that would leave us some room for negotiation.

Its all sort of an inexact science I guess. We’re pretty flexible on the price, just want to make sure that the new owner is going to love the car as much as we do.

I’ve driven the G3 Integra GS-R, and somehow – it’s a bit softer, a bit more refined, and doesn’t seem to have the visceral thrill of the 92/93 G2 Integra GS-R which is lighter, and has a rather dramatic sound when the V-TEC kicks in around 5500-5800rpm. Newer models just don’t have that – intangible thrill. Maybe we shouldn’t sell it…

…but I’m tired of renting a truck every time I want to bring something home.

WOW way too steep of a price. kelley blue book puts 93 gs-r at around 4600 with 30,000 less miles. I bought mine 2 years ago with 139,000 for 2,400.

7,000 is way way too much especially with that mileage. you could buy a much newer integra for that. and I do agree with you on the G2 being more fun and a more sportier drive, but still way too steep. I was actually interested in looking into this further because I love mine and it would be nice to get another, but with that mileage I wouldn't pay over 3500 for it, And thats only if it was in as mint condition as you say it is. Mine had some rock chips on the hood and a few minor dings here and there.

A couple of month's ago I bought a 95' GSR 2dr (white and beautiful) with only 99k miles on the chassis for only $1500. The only problem is the engine is blown. But even if you add the other $1400 for a used GSR(I'm doing labor myself) that's less than $3000 for a clean car. The only reason I'm telling you this is so that you get the point to go down on your price on a car that's not even the same generation.

damn that canadian exchange rate is crazy. i guess i do see that. but the thing is its going to be hard to sell it to an american audience considering we can get them for much cheaper. but, you did come to the right place to try to sell to someone that will appreciate the car as much as you do. g/l on trying to sell it
