My passenger side axle keeps popping out after I'm in gear for about 3 seconds. Undriveable...mechanic says I might need to check my frame for engine/transmission allignment. Anybody ever had this problem? Prolly not lol but any suggestions will be great appreciated

unless the axel is broken there is no physical way for the axel to "pop out" since it it wedged between the transmission and bolted to your wheel bearing.
a couple possibilities are, one of the joints are bad (more than likely your inner joint) Or your Differential is cooked... don't feel too bad if this is the case since I cooked mine a few weeks ago. Kun

Well I'm about to change both my axles...um what do you mean my differential is cooked? I'm gonna replace my tranny too, think both these will solve the problem?

the differential is the component in the transmission that gives the power to the axels, if that component is shot... not power get to the wheels.

Ain't the differential in the tranny on front wheel drive cars? If that's true then I'm gettin a new tranny anyway. And plus this same problem just happend. The mechanic said he popped it back in when it was on the lift.

it sounds more like your axels is bad... probably your inner joint.

if you have tools and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty then pull the axel. if not, have a shop throw it on a frame rack and see if the frame is bent...take it from there http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual/manual.htm you can check the helm's there to see how to yank the axel.

When reassembling my car after replacing a clutch, I didn't jam the axle all the way back into the transmission. First time I let out on the clutch, the axle popped out a little and stripped a bunch of metal off of the splines.
This might have happened if you had a worn-out 'keeper' on your axle. I forget the technical name for it. Anyway, it popped out one time and in 30 seconds did enough damage to never go back in properly. Had to get a new axle. Look at the end of the axle that goes into the transmission. Are the splines ground off? Might just need a new 'keeper'. Flunky 'Keeper' = Retaining clip? |

The mechanic said the clip is fine, he also said that yea I might need to see if the frame is bent, that would really fuckin suck, 'cause I want to sell this car and get an Si.
