ughhhh.... the Cobalt
Anyone know where I can find pics on the cavalier's 2005 replacement, the Cobalt? I have seen the sketch of the front end of a blue one, but are there any real pics available? Personally I think Chevy is gearing up for a huge mistake. There is a lot of integrity in a car's name and personally I think that the "Cobalt" sucks. Come on, let's not name a car after an element. Dodge has already done that with the neon. Not to mention that the one pic of this car that I have seen looks butt ass ugly. I have owned 4 different Cavalier Z24's in my life and if I don't find the pic and name of the cavalier's replacement to be compelling, I don't know how in the hell GM expects the import crowd to be drawn to it. It has been quoted as "having a european flair". No offense to anyone, but this sounds really fuc***g queer. Why don't they just say it's friggin groovy! That's along the same lines. I thought Chevrolet was supposed to be about the spirit of America, not Europe. When will chevy realize that young people are looking for cars like the cavalier 220 turbo to go from just a prototype to actual production! Young crowds are looking for cars to compete with the eclipse, integra, RSX, and souped up civics. Anyway, sorry I got so sidetracked guys. I am just worried that I will eventually give up on GM and go to Acura. As much as I don't want it to happen, I would go out and buy an RSX long before I would buy the Cobalt.

yeah, i'm afraid this is it. I did some more research and by all accounts, those pics are accurate as to what the car will look like. What a disgrace. I guess that a shitty name deserves a shitty looking car. I guess I'll just have to savor the flavor with my last "cool" cavalier. GM cars are really starting to suck. Anyone seen the new malibu? I rest my case. And lets face it, the impala couldn't be any more boring/plain looking. It seems like the grand am and the grand prix are the last strongholders in the sport front drive gm segment. Well at least this is my perspective, but hey, I'm a 25 year old white male. GM is supposedly hoping to gain a "younger college crowd", but i just don't see it happening. Take any year Z24 and sit it right next to the cobalt and ask yourself this question, "What in the hell are they thinking?!"

they should just rename it "coolvalier" then just put on a decent set of 16" alloys instead of the 14" pot-metal im ridin on..... I think i would trade-up for one....

Dude,
You can't honestly tell me that that thing and the malibu are good looking cars. I like that grand prix (as i have already said!) and believe me, I have a lot of respect for domestics. I have owned 4 Z24's and I'm sorry, but I just don't see it happening with these ugly new vehicles. They're just too ugly. Just say the word: "cobalt" then go look at the pics. It's a disgrace and in no way (other than the engine) will it compete with the other sport compacts. Don't get me wrong, I love my new Cav and I plan to keep it, along with the 88Z that I still have, but there is no fucking way on god's green earth that I would go out and buy a Cobalt or Malibu. Oh yeah, here's something nice: There's more Cavalier's on the road than any other vehicle. Unfortunately, this will not be the case with the cobalt.

One more thing....
You never know who is looking at these forums. Maybe GM will get word of what loyal customers think. Why sit and try to pat them on the back when they are making a mistake.

1 question does the cobalt come in a 2 door or is it gonna stay looking like a 4 door piece of shit ford focus wannabe. i think its ugly as fuck. theres some people out there that like it so adding it onto there inventory isnt a bad idea. but replacing the cavalier? STUPID !! WHAT ARE THEY THINKING !! they might as well put fold down baby seats in the back and a diaper changing table that folds out from the passenger side door. nobody i know my age would buy that ugly pos
btw grnad prix and grand am arent the only 2 good gm cars... the monte carlo is fukin sweet.. always has been

If you ask me... I simply see the monte as a 2 door impala with subtle styling cues from the old monte style. As far as I'm concerned, then monte met it's maker in the late 80's (I think 88) when the last RWD supersport rolled off the line. Since the reintroduction of the name, the monte has been nothing more than a glorified Lumina, or as we have it now an impala. It truly has not been a fundamentally distinct vehicle since the 80's. Word is though that it is slated for some upgrades for 05, including a switch to rear wheel drive. That would be pretty sweet.

u can't even compare the impala and the monte carlo, well at least 64-67 and 94-96 impalas, those cars r legends. they don't deserved to be lowered to the level of monte carlos, but don't get me wrong monte carlos r ok, but impalas kick ass.
all other impalas r ok to dis on.
