Angry 2005 Cobalt license tage light bulb?

How do you change the license tag light bulb on a 2005 Chevy Cobalt? I don't even see a light bulb there, yet I was ticketed for it being "burned out".

When you get the ticket it just means the license plate isn't lit up, the cop doesn't get under the car and inspect it.

If you don't see a light or socket, that's probably the problem. There should be some evidence of a broken wire somewhere, but I'm not sure where exactly it runs on a Cobalt.

The rear tag light is right above the plate. Stevie Wonder could find it. It's just a small cylindrical plastic globe held in place w/ two phillips screws. Remove the screws, carefully pull the lamp holder down. Unscrew the lamp base from the housing.

For future reference, the owner's manual has specific instructions on how to change all of the exterior bulbs. No one ever thinks to look there.

Re: 2005 Cobalt license tage light bulb?

I just got pulled over 2 nights ago just so the cop could inform me that it was out. I found where the light was, but was wondering how to get it out and get it changed also. FYI: I bought my '07 a year old used and it didn't come with the owner's manual. But thanks for answering it anyway.
