sports buttom not working on auto prelude 2.2 non vtec

my sports button stops working one day and i dunno why, the s light still comes on but it won't rev out to the last, it drives just the same as without switching the sports on, it uses to rev out more but doesn't anymore, anyone know whats wrong?!
