SOHC ZC vs. DOHC ZC

what are the differences between a single and a dual cam ZC? how much difference is there? how different are they to install? should a DOHC be much harder to install than a SOHC?

thank you in advance.

the DOHC ZC is rated at 130hp, while the SOHC ZC is the same as the USDM D16A6, which is 108hp.

i beg to differ ... i will admit that its basicly the same as the d16a6 but i believe it has the higher compression ratio allowing it actually 118hp with MPFI and around 108 with DPFI.

ok, well here is my problem (i don't care about the horsepower right now). i was quoted a price to install my ZC. my engine got delevired to the shop today, and i got a call saying that they had quoted me for a SOHC install, not a DOHC install. they are going to charge me more to install a DOHC ZC. he said something about needing new intake, new exhaust, etc... is this right? i thought all ZCs were just a straight swap in replacement, right? or am i wrong?

if there is a difference, what extra is involved in installing the DOHC ZC?

Angry CAN YOU SAY "BASTIDZ".....

Don't believe it. All your existing manifolds should mate up no problem. Besides, the engine should also come with it's own intake and exhaust manifolds. And the amount of labour is exactly the same...

Tell 'em you're getting other quotes...

sorry for the multiple posts...

i just talked with the guy at the shop. he says the problem is with the cam sensor and the knock sensor. he says that the Si ECU doesn't have provisions for these sensors, but the ZC needs these sensors. he says that i need a new ECU. is this true? please help.

thanks.

you might want to think about taking it to another shop any way b/c that guy has no clue... the zc has no knock sensor and the si does have a cam angle sensor also...

the cam sensor is outside of the zc dizzy, unlike the si (I think that's it)... the only change here is the repinning of a couple plugs.. simple

Riddle me this...

This guy knows shit. Why is he charging for knock sensors? He quoted you for a ZC SOHC did he not? Does a ZC SOHC have a knock sensor? Not unless I am misinformed...
