Wink Prelude V-tech, S?

My questions may be silly to all of you but here goes.
I own a 95 Prelude S with an AEM CAI, as you all know prelude S has only 135 hp, is it worth it to buy an h22 before i start moding it out? I mean would a v-tech prelude realy eat me up that bad in a race from start to finish? Also Im noticing a slight delay in response when taking off from first gear, I find that if i rev to 2 1/2k its not so bad but what could i do to make it engage a little quicker?

Well, you are talking about a 48% gan in HP. I have never raced or driven a a prelude S, but I would think 48% is a huge difference.

I had a `94 Prelude 2.0i with about 133hp (BB3, SOHC non-VTEC) before Iīve bought my current `00 Prelude base (BB6, DOHC VTEC) and the difference in acceleration/ topspeed is like night and day!
I donīt know how many and which other parts you would have to change when swapping a H22A into your car but if itīs not going to be too expensive then I would say go for it. Otherwise just sell your car and get a VTEC model.

Thumbs up

I guess i should have looked closer under the hood before purchase I saw it and i almost filled my pants as they sell very quick around here.
What price range should i expect to pay for a garage or someone to drop a vtech motor in for me(excluding engine price)? I did find an engine..2.2L vtech from a 93 prelude for $650.(engine only), what else will i NEED, for parts to get it in and running?<as i am taking all notes down>

That is a considerable hp increase, the first time i raced was with 4 other cars at about 2am in a 1/4 mile parking lot. Preludes are amazing anyway no matter what the type as i beat all cars by 2 lengths or better except for a cocky older model v8 camaro..and even he was kinda scared. I was beat off the line of course, but i tripped 1st, 2nd,and 3rd, and finished on his bumper. At that time i was totally stock. Everyone there agreed that if i had an exhaust and intake i would have owned. THERFORE if i had had a vtech prelude with a vtech controler i may have won? Im now leaning toward buying the engine

I belive for a swap all you will need is the engine, VTEC ECU and the Tranny if you want. Should be that simple.

Someone correct me if I'm in the wrong here

Sorry about posting late, I was busy today, finalizing the money for my Lude

Anyway, yeah you don't NEED the tranny, all it'll give you is the Gear Ratio's from the VTEC model... it'll be more sporty, but you don't NEED it.
