Cat-back exhaust system

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a cat-back exhaust for my 2002 LS sport? What sounds good on domestics? Which provides a good hp gain? Please don't reply to this if you are making recommendations based on a foreign car. I've heard that systems may sound completely different on imports vs domestics.

Borla makes a cat-back for your car.Part Number14981 . My book says it will cost $550. I know most Borla exhaust is pretty expensive, but they probably make the best cat-backs out there. I believe Dynomax makes one for your car. It will cost about $100-$150 less than Borla. Dynomax will be a little louder than Borla, but Borla will have a deeper tone and give more power. If i find more cat-backs i'll post them.

Autoflow, have you ever heard that system before or are you just saying it makes a nice deep tone because JCwhitney says it does? Well i have heard it before and i thought it didn't have the deepest of all deep too it and it was rather loud. I'm not saying this is a bad kit or anything, i would probably get it just because it costs about 4 times as less than borla and is probably the cheapest around. mdb25, will have to decide.

thanks for your input guys, but I think that the systems you are showing me are for the 2.4 twin cam motor. My car has the new 2.2 ecotec which replaced the 2.4 The borla lists up unitl 02, but i think that it is probably referring to the 2.4. Only a handful of 2.4's were put into the cavaliers at the start of the production year for 2002. Mid-production, the 2.2 ecotec took over. What makes the borla and dynomax so much more expensive? Is there a noticeable difference? Let me know. Thanks again.

Just go to advanced auto parts and buy a Thrush Turbo muffler or Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. The Thrush is really deep. It is probably about 40% louder than stock. The Dynomax is about 30% louder than stock, but not as deep. Both are good mufflers at an afordable price. Then if you car has a resonator (looks like another small muffler after the Converter) have it removed. It will add about 8-12 easy HP if removed. Then one of those mufflers will gain you anoth 10-14HP. This is a better deal than a cat-back in my book. Just trying to save you some money These mufflers will fit up to any kind of car so you don't have to worry about that. As far as a tip, get what you think would look good on your car.

You should just build him a custom y-pipe and save him alot of money. then their will be no restrictions on the exhaust at all and it sounds pretty nice like that.

If you take that resonator off, wont your car fail inspection? Or what exactly does the resonator do?

You might be thinking the converter. You are aloud to take off the resonator. I can't 100% tell you why some car companies especially GM put resonators on most of their cars, but i believe the purpose of the resonator is basically resonate the sound and exhaust flow. I know when i removed the resonator from a 1998 Grand Prix GT it increased the sound level out the tail pipes and added HP. Same went when i did it to a 1993 Escort 1.9. Its about $20 having it removed at a muffler shop. you will gain about 5-10HP removing it.
