Another Coil-Over/Spring Question
Alright heres the scenario. I have a 94 Integra, it is sittin on 17's and i have Ground Control coilovers (i think, has no writing on the coils, and i bought from a nearby store. They look JUST like GC tho...) When i am driving and i hit little bumps on the road my car sounds like it is bottoming out almost, its a real loud "bam" noise. and it makes it sounds cheap. So because of this i bought some Koni Yellows, which arent on yet. But heres the thing, i went to my mechanic today to have hiom put on the Koni's, and he said that they will not help with that noise. he said that it was because i bought cheap coilovers and they werent rated to the integra (the coils fit civics, del sols, integs etc.) and he suggested that i buy springs before putting on the shocks to save some labor fees.
Now can some of you more experienced enthusiasts help me out here? should i throw the shocks on with my coils, or should i just buy the springs? (btw i am not good with putting stuff on myself so i have to pay, and its like anywhere from 75-250 to have it/them done) BTW if Springs should i go Neuspeed Race or Sport? i mean will Race be tuckin tire? I want to be right at tire if possible. Thanks |

i was in the same position as yoou. i bought some gc look-a-like coilovers from a local shop and when i put them on everytime i hit a bump it hit hard as hell like it was bottoming out. then i decided to buy some tokiko shocks and see if that fixed it. i went for a drive and 5 mins later i realized that new shock didn't fix the problem. then after a couple of months i bought some real gc coilovers and now the ride is pretty close to stock.

I'm thinking Sport, IMO Race might be a tad to low.

If you want coilovers spend the $$$$$ & get the real thing. Those so called coilover sleeves are complete JUNK! I say go with the 1.7" drop & some good shocks. With the race springs you will need a camber kit & ride quality will suffer more due to the increased spring rate.
