Coil Over kit questions
Has anyone here ever used a coil over kit, How hard is it to install? Does it make the ride tighter or loose and what other effects, if any can it have?

Re: Coil Over kit questions
Man, is that a loaded question....
I use one. It wasnt too hard to install, took an afternoon. For the rest of your question, it depends entirely on what your car weighs, FWD or AWD, how you intend to drive it (street, drag, autox/roadrace, etc), shock valving and settings, spring rates, how the spring rates relate to shock valving, and ride height of the car. If you want to fill in some of these blanks I can make a shock and spring rate recomendation, but this is more of an art than a science and experience is the best teacher

Re: Coil Over kit questions
coil over is a lot better than springs and shocks. and usually for our dsms the coil over kits dont lower the car too much so you dont need to worry about alignment kits or eatin up tires.

Re: Coil Over kit questions
My coil over kit will put the car on the ground if I want to... OR I can go higher than stock. Thats the whole point, these things are adjustable.

Re: Coil Over kit questions
gsxracer what coilovers do you have and how do you like them? also, whats the lowest you have gone with the coilovers(to the point that you could tolerate for street driving) and what size rims/tires did you use?

Re: Coil Over kit questions
I use the Ground Control kit with standard diameter race Eibach springs, 450 pounds front, 325 rear, on Tokico Illumina asjustable shocks. I also went with the GC billet upper mounts to gain another inch of travel for another 200. I keep it pretty low, some of the pictures on my site must show it. Wheels tires are 17x7, 215/50/17. If I did it all over again I would go with Konis, the tocikos dont last very long with my spring rates. OTherwise I'm very happy with it. HAndles way better than stock, and pulls down to 1.5s for short times on those 17" street tires. Can't complain
