Turbo Or Swap??????

ok i have a 92 celica GT with an 5S-FE engine would it be better 2 swap it or turbo the 5S-FE?because i think with that turbo and bolt ons it should run fairly good...but with the swap like the 3S-GTE from what i hear the swaps $5000....and they turn out to be the same horsepower i think?

um, no, a 3sgte will always give better and more reliable performance. stock the 2nd gen has 225hp. a turbo 5sfe has maybe 200hp if you ad an intercooler to the burien turbo kit.

and the 3rd gen 3sgte has 255hp. both the 2nd and 3rd gen 3sgte's are capable of around 400hp on stock internals. the 5sfe cant go past 250 or so

besides, if you have a 5spd, then you can do the swap for more like $3000(parts and labor) if you go with a 2nd gen 3sgte.

dont bother, if i remember correctly, the celica's compression is so high, that if you tried to run NOS through it it would just fry your shit up.

you can change every single part on a 3sgte with a higher performance part.

they are not at all rare.

www.jarcoinc.com
www.venus-auto.com

and several other places have a whole front clip for as low as $1500

as for nitrous, any engine can take nitrous in resonable amounts and with the right fuel delivery. if you want quick and easy power, go ahead and get a zex kit for your 5sfe and fun a 50-75 shot, zex only activates at wot so fuel should not be a problem, just dont use it all the time or for more than 15 seconds at a time and you will be fine.

buy a 3sgte put in your 5sfe crank and there you have it a stroked 2.2L 3sgte ready to make 350 on stock internals
