D16Z6 swap into my 91 SE questions?

I am putting a d16Z6 into my 91 SE and I have couple questions. If I get the whole D16z6 setup including intake, distributor, wiring harness, and ECU will it require any additional wiring or do I just plug it in? Will this engine bolt right in with all these parts.....will I need to modify any mounts or the harness? I think my car only has two injectors in its intake setup but if I take it all out will I have to consider anything else? My engine now is the 1.5L SE motor.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback

Ranger

Maybe I'm stupid, but what the heck is an SE? Do you have the Special Edition civic? If so, is that the same thing as the DX or EX? I might be able to help you if I knew.

It has a 1.5L so I am pretty sure it is the same as the DX just with SI body moldings. It looks like an SI but its really a DX. The intake system looks a little different to me....I think it only has two inectors but I am not sure.

Thanks

This is the closest picture I could find that looks similar to my engine. It looks the same as most 1.5L motors but the intake system is different as you can see. I dont know if it has anything to do with it, but I live in Canada so maby the SE is only up here???

Thanks for your help,

i do believe you are pretty much correct. go to www.4thGenerationCivic.com and look in the engine section. there are several links that should be able to help with the z6 swap.

Q: I get the whole D16z6 setup including intake, distributor, wiring harness, and ECU will it require any additional wiring or do I just plug it in?

A: if it is the stock d16z6 harness then yes. you will need a conversion (jumper) harness. will cost around $150. with that you will only need to extend and run 8 wires...4 going to the o2 sensor, so it's pretty easy. e-mail jason at: [email protected] (yikes, i hope that is still it)

Q: Will this engine bolt right in with all these parts.....will I need to modify any mounts or the harness?

A: the engine will bolt right in. you do not need to modify to mounts. with the conversion harness mentioned above, there is no need to modify to stock harness

Q: I think my car only has two injectors in its intake setup but if I take it all out will I have to consider anything else?

A: the 2 injectors is the dual point set-up. when you swap in the z6 you will have to do a MPFI conversion. for basic info you can read
http://www.4thgenerationcivic.com/ho...conversion.htm you should refer to the links in the engine section (as mentioned above) for how to MPFI using the z6 parts.

I do have one more question to clarify. If I buy the wiring adapter you recomended, all I would do is plug in the 5G ecu and wiring harness and this adapter will take care of the rest or will I still have to rewire my DPFI setup?

So it would go ECU to 4G internal harness to adapter to 5G harness?

you will still need to rewire MPFI. that is a whole seperate ball of wax from running a new ecu.

that is what it looks like. 1 side plugs into your stock harness, the other side into the p28 ecu (d16z6).
