DX 4 speed HP
I have been hearing rumors that my newly purchased DX 4 speed is only pushing around 70 HP? I know it is no speedster but man that seems low!
If I install an intake and cat-back, would I see a noticable gain? I realize the only real way to get this thing movin would be to swap out everything except the body...but it is only my commuter so I dont want to go crazy. It already has 185,000 on it. Just wanted a little boost. Any suggestions on a "not too expensive" way to plant a few more ponies under the hood?

The 4spd isn't a DX, it's an STD. It has a 70hp D15B1 engine. The cheapest way to get better HP on that engine would be do a MPFI swap and put in an Si cam.

 i have an 89 STD hatchback..yes its 70 hp... its a very slow car i lose to mini vans for god sakes..its a 4 speed...DX's are 5 speeds though i should be at least 80 - 90 hp... if you want speed better get an engine swap...the STD motor is useless.... i have done nothing to my engine but Matrix Intake..im just saving and saving for a ZC at least

How much would an engine swap go for?? parts+labor...estimiated anyway... Man.. 70hp...I think my old XR80 cycle had more than that!
How much would an MPFI swap go for? I have hearad that may increase 10-15 hp? Am I correct in hearing that? Thanks!

when my buddy put mpfi on his std. (d15b1) he went from 64hp at the wheels to 94 hp at the wheels, this was tested on a dyno

That's a huge gain! How much does a mpfi conversion cost? Is it complicated? Where do I start??
