2.8 stroker kit

i have an 85 S-10 blazer and want more power. Can someone tell me if this site is legitimate? http://www.engine-parts.com/GMV6/gm28stroker.html

How can i tell if my engine is a 60 degree V6? Will these stroker kits work for carbeurated engines? do you think this is a good idea? i only have around 1200 to spend now but im hoping to work this summer.

yes your 2.8 is a 60 deg. motor and that kit will work with your block. and about being a good idea.. depends on what your really looking for.
if your looking for big performance outta your blazer v8 is really the best answer but you really suffer in mpg like my 4.6mpg s10. this kit buy the sounds of things is just a 3.1 crank and pistons, thats all a 3.1 is... a stroked 2.8

Best bet is to use the 2.8-3.1L stroker kit, Phase 2 (smooth idle) or
Phase
3 camshaft (slight lope at idle), 1.6 ratio roller tip rocker arms,
Fel-Pro
complete gasket set, oil pump, head bolt set, double-roller timing
chain,
and performance cylinder head parts kit. That should put you right
around
where your budget is. Also, you will need to use a neutrally balanced
flywheel/flexplate depending on which vehicle you have. Please call to

depends on your mechanic skills i guess, rebuilding motors is by no means something a beginner should take on. but if you feel you can do it go right ahead,just make sure you have a good torque wrench!!!

I would spend the money on a used small block ($3-400) go to Summit and buy their engine swap advance adapters ($99.95) and then spend the rest on tranny, rear end, and parts for your engine. You are going to have to pull the engine to stroke it anyway, so why not make it worth your while.

would it be easier and more cost effective just do drop a 350 in?
would i have to buy and new clutch, transmission, and rearend?
and if so, how much do you think that would cost?

As far as your tranny goes, manuals are fun but ya gotta ask your self; do I really like changing a clutch, and unless you have a hydrualic clutch it's gonna be a bitch fabricating a clutch pedal assembly. Unless you really want a straight stick, I would look for a used TH350, or if you want to spend a little bit more money look for a 700R4 (really nice over drive). Other wise you can get adapter plates to use your manual tranny. And the rear end you've got in it is a ten bolt right? it will hold up as long as you don't play race car driver too often. It would be fun as long as you have the $ and time to invest, other wise stroke your 2.8.

yeah a smallblock setup is gonna be cheaper but just don't forget about your mpg, it'll drop drop quite a bit from your 2.8's. if your easy on the throttle and keep those secondaries closed its not bad,but whats the fun in that??

Is it an auto tranny?
