Replacing cat converter

How easy (or otherwise) is it to replace a cat converter on a 2002 impreza sport, manual?
Is this something that can be done with minimum removal of other parts?
Possible to do in my garage at home with the car on axle stands/drive on ramps?
I have a boatload of tools and tackle most jobs on cars.
I'm in NV by the way so it seems i can buy a converter from autopartswarehouse for aro $200.
Also my friend has a Forester, same vintage, also needing a CC, but the ones Autopartswarehouse sell are not allowed in CA, where she lives. Any issues if i were to fit a non CA CC?
Thanks
Ian

Re: Replacing cat converter

Good OEM catalytic converters can be bought at www.catalyticconverterwarehouse.com
With the cost savings, it better to have a local muffler shop to do the install.

Make sure you do a Google ''Federal warranty for catalytic converters'' , you need a failed inspection
report and have a local muffler shop do the job.
