Oil gaskets

I have a question regarding leaking oil gaskets leaking. iIt's the pan looking object up front, ahead of the trans pan and under the engine. Thus far there is no leaks seen on the ground. Is this considered serious and in urgent need of a repair? A few people who have looked underneath at oil change places and an auto parts center seem to think it doesn't look serious or anything that can be urgent and that some are common like that eventually Should I be concerned?

If your oil level does not vary and no spots on the ground I would not get concerned about it. Just monitor your oil level and watch for any fresh oil spots where parked, if none visible you are good to go in my opinion.

Re: Oil gaskets

My '02 Vulcan oil pan was leaking for some time. The drips burn off on the exhaust for the most part and after while the smell of oil in the cabin became objectionable. I bought a couple stop leak treatments at Wal-Mart that helped considerable but they don't last long. The pan gasket change isn't bad nor expensive if you DIY.

Re: Oil gaskets

Also, is it bad if exhausts are dripping in the front end?

Re: Oil gaskets

Are you referring to the mufflers, and drips from the front of the mufflers? If so, there are usually little drain holes there to allow condensation to drip rather than rust out the internals. If your car only makes very short trips, it's not uncommon for moisture to drip from the mufflers and tail pipe. If you make plenty of long trips, then you probably have some other issue such as a coolant temp sensor that is out of range, a misfire, etc.
