85 Lebaron problem

My car will shut off while it's driving down the road. It doesn't sputter like it's not getting gas, it just shuts off. Sometimes it will start right back up and sometimes it won't for a while. Sometimes it will start first thing in the morning and sometimes it won't. Right now it won't start at all since yesterday. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, Have you maintained it well? When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? Did you check for fuel and spark? Let me know.

Re: 85 Lebaron problem

Hi jamesslcx, thanks for the response! I know it's getting spark but I haven't gotten into the fuel filter yet since I just started a new job. I don't even know for sure where the filter is, can you point me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 85 Lebaron problem

GotaProblem, if your car is fuel injected the filter is probably underneath about midway. If carbed it is probably on the front of the engine towards the bottom. If you are positive it's getting spark it must be a fuel problem and the most likely items are the filter and fuel pump. Those are great cars, very simple and comfortable!

Re: 85 Lebaron problem

There was some spider cracking on the old paint on the driver's side door, but I sanded it pretty good and put some filler primer over it so it was smooth, but I guess not smooth enough and it looks kinda crappy in direct sunlight.
