Unhappy 92' Lebaron problem! please help!

I have a 92' lebaron gtc, auto, drop top, that as been doing some weired stuff. Some times my car doesn't want to go into drive. I will but my car into reverse to pull out of my drive way, then into drive, my car acts like it's stuck in neutral. So I give it some gas and it still wont move, my friend will push the car and then if I give it gas while it's being pushed it will go with no problems. this only seems to happen after I have put my car in reverse. My car has about 82,000 miles on it. I would like to see if my friend can fix this problem at home because I don't have much money.

I know this may sound simple, but have you checked the trans fluid? The next thing would be a trans filter repacement. Usually if your trans is slipping it would be second gear, not drive. Have you tried all the other gears, 1st, 2nd.... The reason I say checking the trans fluid, is that when you put the car in reverse, it directs the fluid to a different circut in the trans, and then if you have a clogged filter, it could take a while for the fluid to be re-directed.
I hope this helps.
