question about 01 blazer lower intake manifold
I have an 01 chevy blazer...the mechanic said that the head gasket was gone after doing a pressure test on the coolant. I pulled off the intake manifold and found that one of the water ports was clogged. My question is should I go farther and check the head gasket of just clean up the water ports and reassemble

Re: question about 01 blazer lower intake manifold
Hey Ken in this case I would go and get a second opinion, If the system lost pressure during the test something is wrong for sure but what motivated u to have this mechanic check your car, what were the signs?

Re: question about 01 blazer lower intake manifold
I would not use that test to say you have a bad head. It could be leaking from many areas other then the heads. You need a compression test to tell if it is your heads. You can rent the tool for less then $30 and get a refund when you take it back to autozone.
Check you oil filler tube for anything that does not look correct. Most of the time your oil will look like a milkshake with a bad head. If you took off the valve covers what did it look like under there? |
