Took it to a local Chrysler expert. There is no TCM or selenoid on a 3 speed trans. At a 3 MPH roll, he shifted it into park, just to grind the gears a bit (after he told me not to freak at what he was about to do). That loosened a metal chip from the governor inside the trans. It immediately started shifting again. I dropped the pan and replaced filter and fluid. $40...Van runs great

Who woulda thunk it, eh? Lotsa shavings in the pan. Think I'll hold out on the $900 to fix it right now. Seeing it's a 97 with only 106k on it. Looks great, runs great.
