PCV Valve noise
My 06 Grand SXT was using oil a lot. I replaced the PCV valve. Now, when I first accelerate there seems to be a "clicking" noise coming from under the hood. The clicking stops but then starts again when I accelerate from a stop. The sound is coming from under the hood where the PCV valve is located it sound like and it makes the sound as I step on the gas pedal. What could this be? The valve "breaking in" or what?

Re: PCV Valve noise
A prominent issue with Chrysler. My bet is on that is lifter/rocker arm noise that you have. The PCV does not pulse, operates by vaccum. This is on almost any Chrysler v-6 and v-8 with 65000+ miles on it. If that is it, some have used the AMS-OIL kit to flush the engine and it has helped rid the tick. Im not a fan of flushing motor oil, but some swear by it.

Re: PCV Valve noise
Flewellen, did you buy a cheap pcv valve. I had this happen to me before sometimes you have to live with the noise or get a valve from the dealer.

Re: PCV Valve noise
Yes it was cheap from an auto parts store. I will live with the noise just making sure it wasn't something major.

Re: PCV Valve noise
flewellen1, yes I've had some make a noise also, annoying but harmless. Good luck.

Re: PCV Valve noise
I think I found the noise. After the pcv valve was put
Back in the hose was rubbing against the wiper cowling. I moved the hose a bit and will see if this stops the rubbing. |
