2000 blazer deep trans pan drop

Hello, I want to change the trans fluid & filter in my recent purchased 2000 blazer with 153k on it.. The shift cable runs right beside the pan with the mounting bracket 2 bolts used to secure the pan. How do I remove the shift cable to get to the 2 bolts please? Also, I read elsewhere online that the rear cross member should be removed/looseend on the passenger side to allow access to the rear bolts of the pan also. Support of the transmission is nneded too.. Is this correct or can i get to the rear botls via a 1/4 drive with shorty sockets of the 13mm bolts? Your info is appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

BTW-- the bolts are a t40 torx head bolts. Nothing was mentioned about removing the rear trans cross member so hope i can get to the back bolts.

That site looks a little different than what I've seen under my Blazers... There is a U-Shaped clip that holds the shift cable in the bracket; pop that out and it will release from the bracket. And you should be able to remove the bolts and pan without removing the crossmember, but it might make life easier.

Goser, thanks for the reply about the cross member. I removed the right side bolts, the 2 rear trans mount nuts and loosened the 2 left bolts that allowed me to swing the cross member to the back to allow access to the rear pan bolts that are most likely to be cross threaded when installled back in [HINT HINT!!]. It makes it easier not to take a bath in the fluid with this done. Cleaned the pan and replaced with a new filter and all back together. Now I see why it cots so much to have a shop do this for someone!!

Also, the shift cable on the left side--- I removed the u pin that same two dimples on it. Then using a small screw driver I pressed the sides to the unit and pushed it back to allow access to the 2 10mm bolts that held the mount bracket to the pan. It was a first changing the oil/filter for me on this.

Good luck to anyone else doing so--no fun. I wont tell you how many hours it took me to do this but I spent friday night in the garage instead of at the bar. Got it done is all that counts!!
