Another rim question

I decided that I will not be able to find the rim that I am looking for. I have a 96 ford thunderbird with a 4.6l v8. I decided that I am going to put 1.25 inch adapters to change bolt pattern to 5x4.5. My question is will a 17x9 wheel with 5.96 backspacing fit into the wheel well or will the tires stick out past the body? Anybody with an accurate answer will help big time.
