Car smells like gas ??

When ever I fill my car up It smells like gas for a few days or until a few gallons of gas is used? The smell isn't overwhelming, but won't go away until the gauge goes down to about 3/4 of a tank or about 60-75 miles later.

Re: Car smells like gas ??

There are a couple of possible causes. Try checking the area around the fuel pump to see if the flange gasket is leaking. There should be an access panel under the carpet in the trunk. Otherwise check the filler neck where it attaches to the tank. Both areas can leak and would stop leaking once the fuel level drops.
