Anyone seen/got the SimilR Ford GT GT1?

I'm contemplating getting this with some Christmas present money. Has anyone got one or seen one that they can report on before I decide (vs the Fujimi Aventador...). I have only seen the Focus in a box, so I really have nothing to go on for this manufacturer...

best regards,
Matt

I will have one in my hot little hands tomorrow (probably), sent from a friend who got it a bit early! From what I've seen and heard of it so far, it's LIGHT YEARS ahead of the focus. I have yet to see it in person, so take it fwiw. But, I'm really excited about it. I think it will definitely be worth it, as it is full detail and molded with the doors off.

I'll post a little something when it comes and when I get back from holiday on Thursday.

I should have mine today or tomorrow also. Shipped from Strada Sports two days ago.
Since I just finished up a model last night the Ford GT will be my nexy build.

Hey Eric! A friend on here got a copy a couple of weeks ago but since it was coming from Belgium...

I'm interested to see what you do with it--it seems like a very capable kit to start with. I'd do it but my plate is already full...

Re: Anyone seen/got the SimilR Ford GT GT1?

Got my kit today. Delivered to my office.

First impressions of the GT is good but there are a few sink marks and quite a bit more flash than I would have expected from a new kit and there are some pin marks that will have to be filled or they’ll be visible on the completed build. The rear window, although thin (all clear parts are nice and thin) still has some machine marks in it from the mold not being polished well enough, the windshield looks perfect though. The decals are freakin’ awesome and the tires are really nice.

I plan to build the kit mostly out of the box with the addition of just a few wires and some minor plumbing.

The question will be; how well does it all go together? If it goes together well it’s worth every penny of the cost. If it doesn’t go together well…. Well, need I say more?

I’ll be starting on the kit build today!

I just got mine today and I'm pretty impressed.

You have to give credit to a company trying to take on the usual big name model kit companies. The feature of additional detail instead of being a regular curbside kit definitely appeals to me. I'd definitely be interested in what Simil R has in store for future kits.

Yep, especially when it has templated CF decals, p/e, full detail and molded open doors. Heads and shoulders above T at this point.

Re: Anyone seen/got the SimilR Ford GT GT1?

I mocked up the body last night and I have doubts that all the various body panels are going to fit very well. Also, and I haven't taken measurements to verify the scale, but the model is huge. Obviously, because of the custom body parts designed specifically for the race version, it's going to be larger than a stock GT but this thing is bigger than any other 1/24th scale car (race or street car) I own.

However, I should say I only mocked up the body with tape. Hopefully, the parts will fit better as I
get through actual assembly.

Re: Anyone seen/got the SimilR Ford GT GT1?

After spending some time talking with my friend Veryon on the phone tonight and comparing the scale measurements of the SimilR Ford GT to the street version and specs I found on the race version I think the SimilR kit is in the correct 1/24th scale.

That's good to hear; I wouldn't think that they'd get the scale wrong considering the effort they put into it, and I'm sure they had to have accurate data from the race team.

I agree, Bob. Seeing the painstaking measurements Belkits took with their Fiesta RS car, I'd imagine Simil'r did the same or something similar. At least I'd hope...

As an aside Bob, do you have any pics of the car you built that had the three different cars put together as one? I wanted to show my wife and some friends here it, if possible. Thanks!

Daniel

I recieved mine a few days ago and have to say its impressive as well. Dont plan to start it anytime soon so I dont know if it fits together well but I wish there were more kits like this. opening doors almost full detail, multiple display possibilities etc.

Below is the link to the first one I built, the orange one w/the 2006 Mustang rear end. I have yet to take beauty shots of the blue one w/the 2010 back end (Jim took photos of the completed model for Scale Auto, so I only have the in-progress shots, and can't show them here until published). I'll try to shoot a few shots of the blue one this week and add to my album.

Flashback I
