Question Engine Codes

The engine code for a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker is L34. The Suzuki Vitara is J20. Is there a little trick going on and they are the same engine? After all the engine in my Tracker says Suzuki on the darn thing.

Also isn't the engine for the Aerio and the Vitara the same cuz they are 2.0l? There is just an A added on the engine codes?

Reason being Import Tuner is doing a Project Aerio and I was wondering why I couldnt just use the same basic steps to slap a turbo on my Tracker.

Much Aloha!

Sorry I've never heard it called an L34. Only J20A=4cyl, H25A=2.5V6 and H27A=2.7V6(XL-7 only)

The Suzuki Aerio has the same 4cyl J20A but a fwd version and they also bumped the hp up too.

Go to www.suzukiaerioforums.com They will welcome you too just like they did me. I'm "J20ATracker" on that site and there is also another guy on there with a Tracker "ILOVESLEEPERS"

Same engine, they come over on a boat from the sagara factory in Shizouka along with the tranny. They are then dropped in a tracker/vitara and on down the assembly line they come in Ingersoll Ontario.

Below is a pic of the assembly line...........who will be the lucky owner of this rig?

Below is the sturdy frame that makes our rigs so tough!
